Description
INTRODUCTION Contemporary views of Maimonides' practice of medicine have looked both at his easy acceptance of the historic therapeutic traditions of Hippocrates and Galen, whose treatments included such ingredients as bat brains and fox lungs, as well as his more considered approaches in relation to hygiene and preventive medicine. His theories on the causes of disease also range widely but do include some more intuitive writings which indicate, for example, that blood-stained foamy spit indicates lung disease.
